The benchmark Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) index Sensex made healthy gains in morning trade on Monday as it rose nearly 300 points, with a rise in bank stocks.
The 30-share BSE barometer, which opened at 27,655.79 points, was trading at 27,752.68 (11:00 am), up 294.04 points or 1.07 per cent from the previous day’s close at 27,458.64.

Of the 30 Sensex scrips, 24 rose while 6 were trading in the red. Bharti Airtel was the top gainer after it gained 15.54 points (or 4.16 per cent) to trade at Rs 391.85 apiece.
The broader 50-issue National Stock Exchange (NSE) index Nifty also made healthy gains during the early morning session. It was trading 77.45 points (or 0.93 per cent) higher at 8,418.85.
