Mumbai, March 23 (IANS) A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), was trading 86.89 points or 0.31 percent up as capital goods stocks rise on Monday.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 33 points or 0.39 percent up at 8,603.90 points.
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 28,317.29 points, was trading at 28,347.97 points (at 9.16 a.m.) in the early session, up 86.89 points or 0.31 percent from the previous day’s close at 28,261.08 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 28,348.51 points and a low of 28,299.11 points in the trade so far.
Good buying was observed in capital goods, healthcare and oil and gas sectors, while selling pressure was seen in the metal sector.
