Mumbai, Feb 19 (IANS) A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), Thursday was trading 110.74 points or 0.38 percent up as consumer durables stocks surged.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 23.70 points or 0.27 percent up at 8,892.80 points.
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 29,434.91 points, was trading at 29,431 points (at 9.21 a.m.) in the early session, up 110.74 points or 0.38 percent from the previous day’s close at 29,320.26 points.
The Sensex has touched a high of 29,436.23 points and a low of 29,386.88 points in the trade so far.
Almost all the sectors were trading in green. Good buying was observed in consumer durables, auto and capital goods sectors.
The S&P consumer durables index surged by 202.02 points, auto index moved up by 159.74 points and capital goods index increased by 72.04 points.
