BSE Sensex hits another record high in early trade

The benchmark Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) index Sensex on Friday retreated from record highs by falling over 340 points in afternoon trade.

The 30-share BSE barometer was plunged by 343.23 points (or 1.16 per cent) to 29,338.54 at 12:30 pm.

Earlier in the day, it touched a fresh record high of 29,844.16, rising by 162.39 points (or 0.54 per cent). The Sensex broke its previous record of 29,786.32 touched on January 28.
